Discover Sardinia And The Costa Smeralda Beaches
Sardinia: Costa Smeralda beaches
A charming and contradictory environment, characterized by the wild and proud Mediterranean shrub-land (Macchia or Maquis), strange-shaped white granite rocks, beaches, coves and bays that your eyes have never seen yet.
Costa Smeralda is surely the most renowned place in Sardinia not only for its constant society life, but also for its unforgettable beauty.
Sardinian Climate
Sardinia has a maritime Mediterranean climate, stronger along the coastal strip, due to its insularity and to the small distance from sea of every part of its territory. It is temperate during all the year.
It naturally shows the effects of its geographical position (in the centre of Mediterranean sea). In fact, the Island is situated in the trajectory of tropical air masses coming from the African coasts on one side, and air masses carried by Western winds originate from the Atlantic Ocean on the other side. It is sporadically crossed by cold currents of air coming from the Artic.
Normally the North is more rainy than the South. In winter, the temperature is normally around 10° C in the coastal cities and a little bit lower in the inland area, while during the summer it can reach and exceed 30° C.
The summer tends to be more or less long depending on the year, but it is usually possible to spend a nice day at the beach (bath included) from April to October.
Sardinian History: the Nuragic civilization
The Nuragic civilization developed between the Bronze Age and the Iron Age (from 1800 to 500 B.C.). Almost 8000 nuraghes, about 400 tombs of Giants and no specified number of sacred wells are examples of the impressiveness of the nuragic civilization. The so-called bronzetti (representing little modern ships) and the archaeological finds (such as the representations of Shardana people in the Egyptian temple of Medinet Abu) demonstrate how the nuraghic people dominated the whole Mediterranean area. The theories of Sergio Frau, a journalist and writer of the book “Le Colonne d’Ercole, un’inchiesta” (The Pillars of Hercules. An investigation) state that Sardinia actually was the powerful Island of Atlantis. Eminent scholars and archaeologists of all over the world maintain these theories.

Discover the Beauty and Beaches of the Greek Isles
By Roy Witman
From the enchanting writings of Homer to the celebrities of Greek mythology, the country of Greece has touched the lives of us all whether we realize it or not. The Trojan War, Helen of Troy, the first Olympics, Alexander the Great, Plato, Aristotle, the Biblical city of Ephesus… the list goes on. And of course, virtually everyone is familiar with the Greek gods and goddesses Zeus, Athena, Apollo and Hades. Whether you long for a closer look at the real or mythical side of Greece, a tour of the Greek Isles will satisfy your curiosity. Let’s take a look at two of the most popular destinations that can be reached via Holland America and other cruise lines.
Santorini
The unofficial colors of Santorini are blue and white thanks to the abundance of whitewashed buildings and the azure-blue sea that surrounds the island. The contrast makes for a very dramatic presentation as you approach from the sea.
The fun of your visit to Santorini begins the moment you depart the cruise ship. Reaching the city requires a walk of about 600 steps, which, if you so desire, you can take on foot. However, most opt for either riding a cable car – which offers great views – or riding a donkey, a fun experience for all ages.
As your sightseeing of the island begins, you might elect to take a bus ride to the highest mountain peak where the views are absolutely outstanding! A local winery welcomes tourists as do all the residents of the quaint village you’ll pass through during your excursion.
You may also choose to visit the ancient archeological site of Akrotiri. This historic wonder has been preserved under volcanic ash for nearly 3,600 years and helps depict what life in the Minoan period would have been like.
Don’t forget to make at least a short visit to the local beaches. Because Santorini is a volcanic island, you’ll find white sand beaches plus a few unusual varieties including grey sand, black sand and red sand.
With plenty of craftsmen, boutiques and jewelry to choose from, shopping is also a fun pursuit. In addition, there are excellent open-air restaurants and cafes that let you enjoy authentic Greek cuisine. But one of the most popular activities is watching the sunsets.
When the sun hangs low in the sky, the cascade of oranges and golds sends a fiery blaze across the sky that reflects off the water below. Amazing!
Rhodes
Rhodes is a delightful island where you can participate in the three S’s: shopping, sunning and sightseeing. This walled city offers spectacular beaches that range from crowded, tourist hotspots near luxury resorts to virtually untouched, secluded hideaways. There are dozens of beaches and bays to choose from around the island.
You can also partake in virtually every type of water sport. Thanks to the shape and position of the island’s curves, you often find perfect conditions for windsurfing. When the sun goes down, the nightlife heats up with plenty of clubs available.
An aquarium, the Valley of the Butterflies and the ancient village of Lindos are popular attractions for families. As you ascend to the Lindos ruins, the streets are lined with vendors selling their wares. Good buys can be had on practically everything imaginable including jewelry, leather goods, furs, carpets and more.
If you’re looking for a vacation that’s out of the ordinary, touring the Greek Isles is an excellent choice. With plenty to do for all ages, you’ll expand your mind and your cultural knowledge while enjoying friendly people, exceptional food and intriguing sites.

Great Reasons to Discover Aruba
Let me tell you why I love Aruba so much and why I think traveling to Aruba rocks big time.
Tourism dominates the island of Aruba with many opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving. Aruba is also known for the unique scenery, which includes unusual rock formations, Indian caves and a natural rock bridge. Tourism is the mainstay of the small, open Aruban economy, with offshore banking and oil refining and storage also important. The rapid growth of the tourism sector over the last decade has resulted in a substantial expansion of other activities.
Temperatures are consistently mild, there is no rainy season, the island lies completely outside the hurricane belt, and the sea temperature hovers around 82 all year long. January, February and March are the most popular times to visit. Temperatures are almost constant at about 28 C (82 F), moderated by constant trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean. Yearly precipitation barely reaches 500 mm (20 in), most of it falling in late autumn. Ocean conditions are perfect for water sports, scuba diving and snorkeling.
There are excursions for those interested in wildlife. Oceanfront accommodations allow you to wake up to the peaceful sounds of waves gently rolling onto one of the many beautiful beaches.
This is a truly unique Caribbean island. Arubans know the real meaning of customer service and everywhere you go you are sure to receive a glowing smile. The information on this site will help you with your family vacation planning, honeymoon, or wedding plans and the photos will show what a true paradise Aruba is. Arubans are famous for their friendliness and hospitality.
The climate is perpetually sunny and welcoming, and great care has been taken to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the environment. Arubans know that they live on an island with the best that Caribbean sea and sand has to offer. Progressing on from Oranjestad, it is not just the main town that is colourful.
If you are seeking for a great hotel, you may want to consider it the Palm Beach area near the capital Oranjestad is one such favorite, primarily because of its choice location beside the high-rise resort district.
All up and down this beach are resorts, which makes this area more crowded than some, but also provides a lot of amenities and services. Palm Beach is also one of the best-equipped and serviced beaches on the island; public changing areas and refreshment stands are readily available. What’s more, many of the island’ s finest resorts and hotels overlook the popular beach, granting a short walk to paradise for many travelers. Palm Beach is lined with luxurious high-rise resorts that offer water sports equipment, chairs, and shade huts for guests. Mature palm trees provide additional shade, and the sand is groomed daily. Palm beach is where all the “high-rise” hotels are located. It is also a very nice beach, but it is more crowded than
Eagle beach. Palm Beach is also one of the best-equipped and serviced beaches on the island. Many of the island’s finest all-inclusive resorts and hotels overlook the popular beach, granting a short walk to “paradise” for many vacationers. Palm Beach is great for swimming, sunbathing, sailing, fishing and snorkelling. There are two piers and numerous water sports operators located on the beach, which makes Palm Beach on the busier and noisier beaches in Aruba.

Discover Amelia Island On A Florida Vacation
If you’re seriously interested in knowing about Amelia Island, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Amelia Island.
You can escape the every day stresses and strains by experiencing luxury hotels, resorts and bed and breakfasts. Amelia Island is also a popular place for weddings and honeymoons.
Activities range from fishing trips to scenic tours of the island from one of the 18 charter boats. While fishing you will be able to experience many different kinds of wildlife like, dolphins, whales, sea turtles and manatees.
Outdoor activities include golf, tennis, bicycling, horseback riding, volleyball and nature tours. Nightlife here on Amelia Island is quite unique. You will be able to enjoy and nice quiet time on the beach with jazz or acoustical music. There are even sunset cruises for a nice night on the town.
A surprise many people miss is Amelia’s historic district which encompasses a fifty block area in Fernandina Beach. Here you will find many restored homes and buildings from the turn of the century.
Amelia is a small island of about 18.2 square miles and has three distinct sections. First is the north end which is called Fernandina Beach. Then you have the middle section which is called Amelia Island and then the third section which is mostly Amelia Island Plantation.
The island itself was developed in a southerly direction which you can see. The more you go south the newer things are. In the heart of Fernandina Beach is Centre Street where you’ll find the Palace Saloon which is the oldest saloon in Florida. You’ll also find a collection of art galleries, T-Shirt stores, ice cream shops and real estate offices.
A great idea for a change is to take Amelia Island’s carriage ride through the downtown area. This 30-minute tour by horse drawn carriage goes through local neighborhoods where your guides will point out haunted houses and pirates of times long ago.
Next you might well decide to try your hand at fly fishing. Well known fly fishing expert of Amelia Island, Captain Russell Tharin, began fly fishing when he was just a boy. Today he runs his own charter service, Fly Fishing Amelia Island. Look him up and try it out. You’ll have tons of fun and memorable experiences.
As you drive around Amelia Island you will not be able to help but notice the huge ancient trees that line the way. It looks as though the road in this area of the country was moved to accommodate the gorgeous trees.
Amelia Island Williams House is a huge Bed and Breakfast now a days that sits on a five thousand square foot lot on Ash and 9th street with it’s 19th century fence guarding it’s entry way. A wealthy Boston Banker built this Victorian mansion in 1856. A sight worth seeing and staying at.
As your knowledge about Amelia Island continues to grow, you will begin to see how Amelia Island fits into the overall scheme of things. Knowing how something relates to the rest of the world is important too.
