Can I Go To Jail For This?

i am 16 years old and do not have a license. i have no dad, but i have a mom who is a doctor, we live in long beach california.
anyways, i took her mercedes out one night, and the tire popped. a cop pulled me over and charged me with driving a dangerous vehicle. i dint care about fines because my mom will pay them, however i had a few beers but the copper did not notice. can this come in trial? i was never questioned about it. as soon as i told him i had no license, he told me to get out of the car, gave me a ticket and drove me to the station until my cousin picked me up. my mom is out of town.
i am still a nice person, just made one mistake. i only drove the car because i had my moms credid card and wanted to go shopping.

Well, the cop has no evidence of you drinking that night, so technically they can’t try you. Even if they did, you’d get off for the beers cause there would be insufficient evidence. It sounds like you got off easy on this occasion, but next time I’d be a little more careful

Forget about the beers, that will bring you lots of trouble. Don’t let anyone know about them. If someone else knows about it, make sure you talk to them and make sure you keep it a secret. If the cop never knew about them, they shouldn’t come up in trial.

taking your moms credit card and going shopping while stealing her car with no license, drunk, driving a car WITH a popped tire until a cop pulled you and youre only 16…yeah you sound like a real nice kid to me but no that cant come up in trial, if the cop didnt get you for drinking when he arrested you then he cant get you for it at the trial because he has no proof that you were drunk, you got lucky that this was all that happened to you.

you’re a minor. you’re definitely not going to jail but they could send you to juvenile detention but I think even that’s a long shot. you probably wont be able to get your license though until you are 21. Im not familiar with the laws in Cali.

No but I hope it scared you enough to never do it again. AND the drinking and driving thing…….makes you a total looser, what if you killed someone, maybe not this time but next?
