Long Beach, CA City Guide

When Would Be The Best Time To Buy Airline Tickets For Winter Break?

I’m flying to see my Boyfriend in CA, and I would be flying to Long Beach, so the LGB airport from PDX (Portland)
I would leave the 26th (day after Christmas) and go home January 3rd.
When would be the best time to buy tickets?
Will the prices go down or up if I wait to buy tickets?
(Ive flown before just not around a Holiday time)
Thank you! :)

Right now as your dates stand your cost is from $383 to $441 round trip. I travel many times a year and i always get the best prices if i purchase my ticket 4 weeks in advance. Especially if flying during the holidays.
The best times to find a good ticket price is online Monday nights or Tuesday nights late into the morning. The airlines always re-adjust ticket prices Tuesday night after midnight.
The best time to fly for great prices is either on the day of the holiday or if you start your trip on Tuesdays and return Tuesdays thru thursday. Again holidays change these factors.
I enjoy travelocity for info but i often use Kayak or Pinpointtravel.com for a broad look at all airline prices. Then i go directly to that airlines site to get my tickets which sometimes gives me a better price then any travel site like expedia or priceline can because of the competition.
Always purchase you ticket online to avoid the $25 fee airline companies charge when you call then to book.
